Registered Katahdin Ram

I always say it is better to be lucky than good and the opportunity to use this ram is great example.  Me & Caleb Pirc met in Kansas to do podcast with Laura Fortmeyer of Jubilee Farms.  Laura was working with the Heifer Project in AR when and was involved with the formation of the Katahdin Association.  This ram was the last animal she owned on the farm when she retired and Caleb was lucky enough to grab him.  Laura and her husband Doug have registered over 4200 Katahdin sheep in their lifetime.  You can here her story in 2 episodes on our SheepThings podcast here.

This Katahdin ram has some serious depth of body and thickness that we hope adds to his ewe lambs.  If anyone knows me, knows that I select my Katahdin rams strictly for producing replacement ewes.  Hopefully with some genomic connections later this winter I will get some solid NSIP data on him to add to his resume.
