CMG 16103 “Old Red”, wow. When I was lucky enough to acquire the very proven Katahdin ram NWT 337 “Maximus”, I got to thinking man he is old and I need to save a son for future breeding. Then I thought where is the best son of him now and low and behold my friend Lynn Fahrmeier had 16103 and he has proven to be maybe go down as one of the best balanced proven Katahdin rams in NSIP up til now.

He is a top Katahdin ram that over the course of 6 yrs and close to 250 lambs in couple flocks has proven to be a great maternal ram with some of the highest accuracies and top 10% in almost every trait! Notice a trend? We are working on building maternal traits in our ewe flock!

We have kept quite a few daughters that we really like and look forward to some more. Old Red is a sheep persons kind of sheep. May not ever win a ribbon at the fair, but those daughters will put money in your pockets! Daughters of Old Red in other flocks have had offspring sell for $1000-3000 each in flock production sells. They flat work!

We lost Old Red in 2022 be was fortunate enough to collect semen for future use.
